Vincente is a serif font created by Ryoichi Tsunekawa and released through Dharma Type (2018). It has the traditional, bookish feel of type you see in novels, newspapers and long-established brands. The free download includes five styles, and you can try every one of them with your own text in the preview above.

In the notes inside the font file, Ryoichi Tsunekawa describes it like this: “Designed by Ryoichi Tsunekawa from Dharma Type in 2017-2018.”

What You Can Type With Vincente

You get every letter from A to Z in both cases and all the numbers from 0 to 9, which means Vincente can handle full sentences, dates and prices. Common punctuation such as &, !, ? and @ is included as well. It also has the accented letters you need for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian.

How to Use the Alternate Letters in Vincente

Vincente has optional ligatures built in as OpenType features. In Illustrator and InDesign, open the Glyphs panel (Window > Type) and select a letter to see its alternates. In Photoshop, use Window > Glyphs. Figma shows them under the text settings as OpenType features. Canva and Cricut Design Space can't reach OpenType alternates, so for those, set the word in a desktop app first and import it as an SVG. Ligatures and contextual alternates switch on by themselves: some letter pairs join into one shape and letters change to fit their neighbours, so repeated letters don't look copy-pasted. This works automatically in most design apps and modern browsers.

Where Vincente Works Best

Vincente is a natural fit for book covers, magazine headlines and classic branding. Serif fonts shine in headlines and printed text. For long paragraphs on phones, check that it still reads well at small sizes. Because the family has more than one style, you can mix them in a single design for headings, subheadings and highlights.
