Ligatures and Smart Letters in Ultra System

Its ligatures switch on by themselves in most design apps: certain letter pairs join into one specially drawn shape.

Where Ultra System Works Best

Designers usually reach for fonts like Ultra System when they're making websites, app screens and clean logos. Its lowercase letters are tall compared to the capitals, which keeps it readable at smaller sizes. It works for headings and body text alike. If the download has several weights, use a heavier one for titles and a lighter one for paragraphs. Because the family has more than one style, you can mix them in a single design for headings, subheadings and highlights.

Ultra System Font FAQs

Is Ultra System font free to download?

Yes. You can download Ultra System for free from this page: free ZIP (1.1 MB) with eight TTF and eight OTF files. Free to download doesn't always mean free for business use, so check the license section on this page before you use it in anything you sell.

How do I install Ultra System on Windows or Mac?

Extract the ZIP file, then open the font file inside it. Click Install on Windows or Install Font on a Mac. The ZIP has both OTF and TTF versions of the same font. Install only one of them (OTF is the better pick for Adobe apps), because installing both can show duplicate names in your font list. Restart any app that was already open so it picks up Ultra System.

Does Ultra System have ligatures?

Yes. Ultra System has ligatures that turn on by themselves in most design apps and browsers, so you don't need to do anything special.

Can I use Ultra System in Canva and Cricut?

Canva lets you upload it on Pro, Teams and other plans with font uploads (Brand Kit > Upload a font); free accounts can't upload fonts. For Cricut Design Space, install it on your computer first and it shows up under System fonts.

Does Ultra System support accented letters?

Yes. Ultra System includes the accented letters needed for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, so it works for more than just English.

What fonts pair well with Ultra System?

For more contrast, pair it with a serif like Playfair Display or Merriweather in your headings.
