What You Can Type With Steady Regular
You get every letter from A to Z in both cases and all the numbers from 0 to 9, which means Steady Regular can handle full sentences, dates and prices. Everyday marks like &, !, ? and @ are there too. Thanks to its accented letters, it also works for Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian, not just English. Of its 322 glyphs, about 130 are not on your keyboard at all. That is where the alternates explained below live.
How to Use the Alternate Letters in Steady Regular
Steady Regular has stylistic alternates and 10 stylistic sets built in as OpenType features. In Illustrator and InDesign, open the Glyphs panel (Window > Type) and select a letter to see its alternates. In Photoshop, use Window > Glyphs. Figma shows them under the text settings as OpenType features. Microsoft Word can switch on stylistic sets in the Font dialog under Advanced. Canva and Cricut Design Space can't reach OpenType alternates, so for those, set the word in a desktop app first and import it as an SVG. Ligatures and contextual alternates switch on by themselves: some letter pairs join into one shape and letters change to fit their neighbours, so repeated letters don't look copy-pasted. This works automatically in most design apps and modern browsers.
Where Steady Regular Works Best
Designers usually reach for fonts like Steady Regular when they're making wedding invitations, certificates and elegant quotes. Script fonts read best in short bursts, so keep it to names, titles and one-line quotes. Skip all caps: script capitals are drawn to start a word, not to fill one.
