Patricia Saunders designed Monotype Corsiva, an elegant calligraphic script typeface, for the Monotype Corporation in 1995.

Sixteenth-century Italian cursive chancery handwritings deeply inspired the design, which Saunders specifically modeled after the work of Venetian writing master Ludovico Vicentino degli Arrighi. It features disciplined, rhythmic cursive strokes with a distinct rightward slant, paired with sweeping, decorative capital letters that act as eye-catching initial drop-caps.
