What You Can Type With Karleysa

With complete upper and lowercase letters and all ten digits, Karleysa is ready for real wording, not just a single headline. Everyday marks like &, !, ? and @ are there too. Thanks to its accented letters, it also works for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, not just English.

How to Use the Alternate Letters in Karleysa

Karleysa has 9 stylistic sets built in as OpenType features. In Illustrator and InDesign, open the Glyphs panel (Window > Type) and select a letter to see its alternates. In Photoshop, use Window > Glyphs. Figma shows them under the text settings as OpenType features. Microsoft Word can switch on stylistic sets in the Font dialog under Advanced. Canva and Cricut Design Space can't reach OpenType alternates, so for those, set the word in a desktop app first and import it as an SVG. Another 75 alternates are stored as separate characters, so you can copy them from Character Map on Windows or Font Book on a Mac and paste them anywhere, including Cricut Design Space and Canva. Its ligatures switch on by themselves in most design apps: certain letter pairs join into one specially drawn shape.

Where Karleysa Works Best

Think of Karleysa for greeting cards, journal pages and friendly social posts. Its lowercase letters are small compared to the capitals, so set it a size or two bigger than usual. Set it a bit larger than you would a normal text font. Handwriting styles lose their charm once they get too small to read comfortably.
