Its ligatures switch on by themselves in most design apps: certain letter pairs join into one specially drawn shape. Its colors live inside the font file. Photoshop, Illustrator and web browsers show them; many other apps show the letters in one plain color instead.

Where Gerhaus Works Best

Designers usually reach for fonts like Gerhaus when they're making book covers, magazine headlines and classic branding. Its lowercase letters are small compared to the capitals, so set it a size or two bigger than usual. Serif fonts shine in headlines and printed text. For long paragraphs on phones, check that it still reads well at small sizes. Because the family has more than one style, you can mix them in a single design for headings, subheadings and highlights.
