Its ligatures switch on by themselves in most design apps: certain letter pairs join into one specially drawn shape.

Where Amatic Works Best

Designers usually reach for fonts like Amatic when they're making comic strips, speech bubbles and playful headings. Because the letters are narrow, long words fit in tight spaces like book spines, banners and video thumbnails. Its lowercase letters are tall compared to the capitals, which keeps it readable at smaller sizes. The file has no kerning data, so in logos and big titles check pairs like AV, To and Wa and tighten the spacing by hand. Cartoon fonts are great for short, fun lines. If you place it over a busy photo, add a thick outline or a drop shadow so it stays readable. Because the family has more than one style, you can mix them in a single design for headings, subheadings and highlights.
