What You Can Type With Amanda

With complete upper and lowercase letters and all ten digits, Amanda is ready for real wording, not just a single headline. Everyday marks like &, !, ? and @ are there too. Thanks to its accented letters, it also works for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, not just English.

How to Use the Alternate Letters in Amanda

Amanda has 17 stylistic sets built in as OpenType features. In Illustrator and InDesign, open the Glyphs panel (Window > Type) and select a letter to see its alternates. In Photoshop, use Window > Glyphs. Figma shows them under the text settings as OpenType features. Microsoft Word can switch on stylistic sets in the Font dialog under Advanced. Canva and Cricut Design Space can't reach OpenType alternates, so for those, set the word in a desktop app first and import it as an SVG. Another 380 alternates are stored as separate characters, so you can copy them from Character Map on Windows or Font Book on a Mac and paste them anywhere, including Cricut Design Space and Canva.

Where Amanda Works Best

Designers usually reach for fonts like Amanda when they're making wedding invitations, certificates and elegant quotes. Its lowercase letters are small compared to the capitals, so set it a size or two bigger than usual. Script fonts read best in short bursts, so keep it to names, titles and one-line quotes. Skip all caps: script capitals are drawn to start a word, not to fill one.

Amanda Font FAQs

Is Amanda font free to download?

Yes. You can download Amanda for free from this page: free ZIP (175.6 KB) with one OTF and one TTF files. Free to download doesn't always mean free for business use, so check the license section on this page before you use it in anything you sell.

How do I install Amanda on Windows or Mac?

Extract the ZIP file, then open the font file inside it. Click Install on Windows or Install Font on a Mac. The ZIP has both OTF and TTF versions of the same font. Install only one of them (OTF is the better pick for Adobe apps), because installing both can show duplicate names in your font list. Restart any app that was already open so it picks up Amanda.

How do I get the alternate letters and swashes in Amanda?

Some are OpenType features, which you pick from the Glyphs panel in Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop. The other 380 are separate characters you can copy from Character Map (Windows) or Font Book (Mac) and paste into any app, Cricut and Canva included.

Can I use Amanda in Canva and Cricut?

Canva lets you upload it on Pro, Teams and other plans with font uploads (Brand Kit > Upload a font); free accounts can't upload fonts. For Cricut Design Space, install it on your computer first and it shows up under System fonts.

Does Amanda support accented letters?

Yes. Amanda includes the accented letters needed for Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, so it works for more than just English.

What fonts pair well with Amanda?

For the small print, like dates, addresses or menu items, pair it with a clean sans serif such as Montserrat or Lato.
